Customising DiveData

Dive Data 2000 stores all of it's information in a single file; DIVEDATA2000.MDB. It's likely that at some stage this file will be accidentally deleted or corrupted - so keep backups!

An easy backup procedure is to copy the file and give it a different name (e.g. DIVEDATA.BAK or DIVEDATA.FEB) Unfortunately this doesn't protect you from a hard disk crash, which will wipe out all of your files. Backup hardware such as ZIP drives and CD writers are available for very cheaply and would be a very worthwhile investment if you are keeping all of your branch records on one PC. Just think how long it would take you to re-key the information if you were to lose it!

If the DIVEDATA2000.MDB file is small enough you can keep backups on a floppy disk, but this is a temporary solution, it will eventually get too big to fit on a single disk.

If the rest of the branch are relying on you to store their data then you can't have too many backups. Sooner or later you will need them.
